Family Day at Disney in Support of Education

DAPs Magic Disney News – PRESS RELEASE

Disney’s Back-to-School Supply Drive was in full swing this weekend as Cast Members brought their spouses, siblings and children to help sort thousands of items that will soon be delivered to schools across Central Florida.

This year’s “Family Day” is part of the Back-to-School initiative that started in 2005 as a way to provide students the opportunity to begin their school year with needed supplies so they can focus on learning.  Disney VoluntEARS will continue the sorting process until Wednesday August 8, when the items will be ready for distribution.

Last year, over 8,000 filled and 5,000 unfilled backpacks with over 2.1 million school supplies were given to 19 schools and learning centers in Orange, Osceola, Lake, Polk and Seminole counties.
