Mr. Holmes

See Ian McKellen as Sherlock Holmes in First ‘Mr. Holmes’ Trailer!

Ian McKellen is Sherlock Holmes, but perhaps not the Sherlock Holmes you are used to. He isn’t running around chasing Moriarty through the streets of London. In fact, he isn’t running around at all. He’s now retired and is living the life of a bee keeper. But there is still one last mystery to be solved… In fact, it was his last mystery.

The official teaser trailer has been released for Mr. Holmes. See Ian McKellen in action here:

Plot Summary:

MR. HOLMES is a new twist on the world’s most famous detective. 1947, an aging Sherlock Holmes returns from a journey to Japan, where, in search of a rare plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now, in his remote seaside farmhouse, Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees, with only the company of his housekeeper and her young son, Roger. Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits the circumstances of the unsolved case that forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love – before it’s too late.

So What Do You Think?

What do you think of Mr. Holmes? I’m personally completely intrigued by it. I think I know the case that is being referenced in this movie (although I’ll have to check) and it will be interesting to see how director Bill Condon and crew develop this story and the relationships inside of it. I’m also looking forward to seeing a very different Sherlock Holmes than most of us are used to. The last few incarnations of Holmes has been that of a the world’s greatest detective in his prime. Now, we will see Sherlock Holmes in his decline and that makes for an interesting story to me. All that being said, I’m looking forward to seeing Ian McKellen in this film this summer!

Make it a GREAT day!
