Disney’s Live Action ‘The Jungle Book’ Passes Weekend Box Office Predictions

Disney’s live action film, The Jungle Book, has been in theaters for a few days now and the reviews are coming in positive. Since opening day this past Friday, the movie has reeled in over $103.6 million in North America alone, according to CNN Money.

The film, which was predicted to bring in an average of $75 million on opening weekend, retells the classic story written by Rudyard Kipling. In addition to the well known story, the cast features voices from Bill Murray to Scarlet Johansson and plenty more.

As for global numbers, the film brought in $240 million. Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is currently rated with a 94%.

In part of the ongoing live action film trend with the Walt Disney Company, past films such as Cinderella and Maleficent have grossed up to $2.3 billion worldwide. Audiences can look forward to other live action films in the future such as Beauty and the Beast and the recently announced, Peter Pan.
