Welcome to the DAPs Magic Disney Pumpkin Carving Pattern page! We hope that this is a useful resource for you as you carve your pumpkins for Halloween! Feel free to print any of the images and follow the directions to create an amazing Disney Jack-O-Lantern! Before you carve your pumpkin, cut a circle (or you can use special shapes) around the top of your pumpkin around the stem. Then pull this "lid" off and clean out the inside of your pumpkin, removing the seeds and strands inside. Once you have scraped the inside of your pumpkin clean, you are ready to begin! At this point, you will want to decide on your DAPs Magic Disney Pumpkin Carving Pattern. Tape the pattern to your pumpkin and you can either poke holes through it around all the details/lines with a pin or nail. Some people choose instead to use pens or permanent markers, however these do leave a mark and sometimes don't look as cool as when done without! Once you have your pattern outlined on your pattern you can remove the paper pattern and you are ready to begin carving! There are several ways to carve your pumpkin. Traditionally, you use a knife to literally carve holes in your pumpkin to create your Jack-O-Lantern. If however, the pattern is more detailed and intricate, we recommend using the "peeling" method. With this you instead score the skin of the pumpkin and then dig into the meat of the pumpkin about 1/2 inch. If you have a really small pumpkin, you might want to not dig quite as deeply. Conversely, if it is a large pumpkin, you may want to dig deeper. The object here is to allow the light from within to be seen on the outside without cutting all the way through the pumpkin. This allows you to have a more detailed pattern without the pumpkin falling in on itself. You can carve different depths for different levels of shadow if you are really into pumpkin carving! Several different types of knives can be used to carve your pumpkin. A simple paring knife can work with some pumpkins or a pumpkin carving kit found at just about any store that sells Halloween stuff will work. If you are REALLY into carving pumpkins, then you may want to look at getting exact-o knives, and mini saws. But in general, as long as it is sharp and thin, any knife will work. When carving your pumpkin just remember a couple of things. Patience is key. Also, keep your pumpkin still while carving to get the best results. Finally, both Disney and Halloween are all about having fun! As you carve your Disney patterned pumpkin, make sure and have some!
