BOISE, Idaho An Idaho first-grade teacher is headed to Disneyland.

Wanda Jennings of Jefferson Elementary School in Boise has been named as one of 45 winners of the national Disney Teacher Awards for 2005.

In addition to the July trip to the Southern California themepark, the award includes a ten-thousand-dollar prize for Jennings and another five-thousand dollars for her school.

Jennings was honored for her innovative approach to teaching, including using the common peanut to illustrate concepts in science, math and even literature.

Walt Disney officials who gave her the kudos say it's teachers such as Jennings who open up new worlds for their students.
