The Disney Gallery was built in the 1960's when Walt Disney was building New Orleans Square. He decided that he needed a place to entertain various VIPs when they would visit Disneyland that was larger than his apartment above the Firehouse on Main Street, USA. After his death on December 15, 1966, this project went on hiatus. It however wasn't left abandoned. Through the years it housed an insurance company's hospitality suite and Disneyland International (which used this suite to help plan Tokyo Disney). Finally in the 1980's it became of The Disney Gallery, originally a place for imagineers artwork to be displayed.

Through the years it has housed many different exhibits and become a center of knowledge about Disney memoribilia and artifacts. Not only knowledge could be found here but Disney artwork and memoribilia could also be purchased at The Disney Gallery. This however could end in August if proposed plans to rennovate The Disney Gallery into a suite move forward.

If you would like to see The Disney Gallery remain open to the public at large and stay as a hub for Disney artwork and new exhibits, please sign this petition to keep The Disney Gallery alive!

DAPs Magic Disney Travel

Welcome to DAPs Magic, the unofficial Disney fan club. We hope that you will both enjoy and contribute to making DAPs Magic a place on the internet where Walt Disney’s legacy can live on in a positive sanctuary like setting. DAPs stands for Disney Annual Passholders and DAPs Magic is a positive source for Disney News including news about Disneyland CA, Disney’s California Adventure, Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disneyland, and Walt Disney World. DAPs Magic offers a wide range of Disney related activities and Disney related games for the enjoyment of Disney Annual Passholders and Disney fans worldwide. These Disney games and Disney activities include the DAPs Magic No Name Game**, a Disneyland Game of trivia and challenges throughout the Disneyland CA park in beautiful southern California. The DAPs Magic No Name Game offers the chance for Disneyland fans (or even just Disney fans) the chance to play an interactive Disney Game every time they go to Disneyland CA Resort. The way the No Name Game works is very simple. Disney fans first sign up for this ultimate Disney Game of Trivia on www.dapsmagic.com. Those participating in this game of Disney Trivia, the DAPs Magic No Name Game, can choose to play at one of three levels. The first level of the DAPs Magic No Name Game is free and is more of a Disney Kid Game. While this level is aimed at Kids it is also ok for any Disney or Disneyland fan or Disney or Disneyland Annual Passholder. The DAPs Magic Disney Kid Game level or the lowest level is also the simplest for Disney or Disneyland fans who do not want to work to hard to play the game. It is also good for those who do not know as much Disney or Disneyland Trivia and could possibly become by an intense Disney or Disneyland Game. The second level of this ultimate Disney game of trivia known as the DAPs Magic No Name Game is for those Disney or Disneyland fans or Disney or Disneyland Annual Passholders who feel they are more confident with Disney and Disneyland Trivia and who feel they are up to the challenge of this ultimate Disney game. This level of the Disney Game from DAPs Magic involves Disney trivia that isn’t as well known to the average guest at Disneyland CA Disney Resort. It will require participants of this Disney Game to do more legwork and search the Disneyland CA and Disney’s California Adventure Resort. It will often involve obscure images in the Disneyland CA and Disneyland California Adventure Theme Parks. All of the questions found in this level of the Disney Game of Trivia known as the No Name Game will be able to be found in either the Disneyland CA theme park, Disney’s California Adventure Theme Parks, Downtown Disney, which is right outside of the Disneyland CA Resort entrance, or the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, or Disney’s Paradise Pier hotel. The third level of this behemoth of a Disney Game of Trivia known as the DAPs Magic No Name Game is for the Disney or Disneyland fan or Annual Passholder that feels they KNOW the Disneyland CA Theme Park or Disney California Adventure Theme Park and also Disney trivia in general. This is the most intense Disney Game that is offered by DAPs Magic to Disney or Disneyland Fans or Disney or Disneyland Annual Passholders. People playing this Disney Game will be required to explore remote areas in the Disneyland Ca theme park, Disney’s California Adventure Theme Park, Downtown Disney (which is just outside the entrance of the Disneyland Ca and Disney’s California Adventure resorts), along with the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, and Disney’s Paradise Pier hotel. There are also Disney and Disneyland Adventures throughout all the Disney Theme Parks including: Disney Cast Member Recognition where Disney or Disneyland CA guests or Disney or Disneyland CA Annual Passholders can recognize a Disney or Disneyland Cast Member for outstanding service or just to thank them for making a magical Disney memory at the Disneyland Ca Park or Disney’s California Adventure Park. Cast Member Recognition is also available for the other Disney Theme Parks including Disneyland Paris, Walt Disney World, Disneyland Hong Kong and Tokyo Disneyland. DAPs Magic Disney Adventures also is the home of Mr. Potato Head’s Disneyland Advnetures. These Disney adventures chronicle the many adventures of Mr. Potato Head as he explores the Disneyland Resort and other Theme Parks. Darth Tater’s adventures through Disneyland can also be found on DAPs Magic Disney Adventures. Follow Darth Tater’s travels and adventures as he attempts to conquer the Disneyland Resort with the help of his Spud Troopers. DAPs Magic Disney Memories offers an opportunity for DAPs Magic Disney fans to explore the various Disney Theme Parks through montages of pictures complete with trivia. DAPs Magic Disney Memories also has pages celebrating Disneyland CA’s fiftieth anniversary and its kick off celebration in the Disneyland Park on May 5th, 2005 and July 17, 2005 for the very park where Walt Disney once said “to all who come to this happy place welcome.” DAPsMagic is also the internet home for Disneyland CA’s most infamous tree Henry. This tree can be found on Main Street USA in Disneyland CA where he resides as the happiest tree on earth. DAPs Magic beckons all Disney and Disneyland CA guests and Disney or Disneyland Annual Passholders to hug Henry and get their picture taken with Disneyland Ca’s favorite tree every time they visit the Disneyland CA Park. DAPs Magic’s Attraction Tips offer Disney or Disneyland CA Resort Guests tips on how to optimize their visit to the Disney Theme Parks of Disneyland CA or Disney’s California Adventure so that they can get the most out of each Disney trip. These Disneyland CA and Disney’s California Adventure Attraction tips can also be helpful when playing the ultimate Disney Game of Trivia, the No Name Game. These can also be helpful when bringing kids to the Disneyland CA or Disney’s California Adventure Theme Parks. There are also tips for getting food in the Disneyland CA or Disney’s California Adventure Resort with more tips to be added for Walt Disney World in the near future. If you are instead more interested in Disney or Disneyland CA pictures, DAPsMagic has a wonderful library of Disney, Disneyland CA, Disney’s California Adventure, Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, Tokyo Disney, and Hong Kong Disneyland pictures for you to display on your desktop. These are perfect for any Disney fan who wants to brighten their day with a little Disneyland. DAPs Magic also has many other features that can be found by exploring through its website. The staff of DAPs Magic hopes that this website will bring a little of the Disneyland CA resort into your home and your computer. Comments: I always enjoy the Disney Gallery. I would miss it very much if it was not there anymore. It is always a great spot to rest for a while on a busy day, and it is fun to see the different pieces of art that they show.

I sincerely hope that they don't get rid of the Disney Gallery!

Comments: i moved to texas from california about a year ago. i loved disneyland that i held a premium annual pass since i was about 10 years old. i heard that the gallery will be closed as soon as august. this upsets me greatly for i was planning a trip to disneyland during my week long stay in california for the summer. please let's keep it open. the gallery was always something i had to do on my many numerous disneyland excursions.

...IT SHOULD BE ACCESSABLE TO EVERYONE!

Comments: I love the gallery. I always look forward to see new exhibits there and I think it's one of the best parts of the park. When I was a kid we thought it was the coolest hidden place because we never realized it was there. I would hate to see it closed.

7. Name: Amber Caraccilo
Comments: Please dont turn the Gallery into something else that the Guest's cant walk around and look outside. I enjoy going there EVERYTIME I visit! I like to walk around and look at the place that walt wanted to have his Penthouse. Theres something special about the gallery that makes you feel like Walt is still there. so please dont take it away from us!!!
I am sure you guys can think of somewhere else to make a penthouse, maybe the castle or on main street or even next to club 33 , on the other side of the gallery.

8. Name: Steven Hill
Comments: As a regular Disneygoer I would hate to have the disney gallery removed. It has been there my entire life and I would like things to stay that way. I often visit the Disney Gallery and often buy things from it's store. I think it would be an all around bad deal for Disney income. The shop in the gallery gains Disney a lot of money and I think the corporation would suffer from the loss of it.
Sincerely with care for the Gallery,
Steven Hill

I truly believe that if the Gallery is taken away then slowly what makes visiting so magical will start to fade away. Please do not take the Gallery away from us.

Comments: The disney gallery is an amazing asset to the park. It is part of what makes disneyland what it is instead of just being a run of the mill theme park. The history and beauty of the park is upheld in places like the gallery and to lose it would be a crime.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

19. Name: Cassidy Corrao
Comments: No, disney you can't do this! This is the one of many hidden places that people discover each and everyday. its great to look at paintings, concept art, etc. and its such a great place to relax with a great view, not to mention the buffet for Fantasmic! Why do this when you have so many hotel rooms you can convert to something specail such as the pirates suite, or the mickey mouse penthouse.

27. Name: Rita Hudzik
Comments: I believe it would be a shame to close the Disney Gallery. Guests need and want to be able to see the work of the artists. It's part of Disney's history. I don't feel that Walt Disney would want it closed either if he were here today. There have been too many changes and closings already in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Comments: Don't clear out the gallery. It, like many of the rides, is a staple of many Disney fans' memories of the park. I personally haven't had the chance to tour it yet, and would love to have that chance. My family is only able to visit the park every two years or so, and our last visit (last year) was interrupted by a temporary illness that affected most of us for a considerable amount of our trip.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

56. Name: Alan Treadway
Comments: I think that the disney gallery is one of the highlights of all of my trips to disneyland. I am an aspiring artist and enjoy to be able to see and possibly collect disney original artwork. I think that if they do choose to remove it anyway, they should at least just move it into Main Street, that way i could still enjoy it, as well as my children could as well.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

57. Name: Sanford Jackson
Comments: Wow. The disney Gallery. Where too begin. I remember as a little kid going in there when Pirates 1 first came open and seeing all the movie memoribilia. (of course that was before I realized how milked that cow was gonna get!) The disney gallery was what first introduced me to Attraction Posters, and now my goal is to have one from every attraction!

My purpose in writing this, is to say that everyone has a memory to connect with this attraction, and no one wants it to be another memory only remembered by the likes of Yesterland.com. I want this gallery to stay to be enjoyed by others, whether its family, freinds, my kids, their kids, and just random people i don't even know!

My point is, don't get rid of the Gallery, its a great establishment, that should be enjoyed for generations to come.

70. Name: Beth Litke
Comments: PLEASE KEEP THE GALLERY AS IT IS! FIND SOME PLACE ELSE (MAYBE NEW) to make as a suite! We know more of such very special in-park suites will be wanted by the elite set of people who can afford it (I will start saving now, but I need me a Disney man to stay with - hint hint to everyone reading this). They can build a small castle-like dwelling, or even a pirate cave, with several different suites and all new building so it is run efficiently, maybe even secretly hidden to most, like Club 33, and not a retrofitted conversion as they may need to do somewhat with the current gallery (just the need to make it fully handicap accessible could really change the structure).

I always go to the Disney Gallery every time I am at the park. It is a special place where I always feel the lingering of Walt's spirit as it was when her was still there. Don't take that away from me (and the general public)! It is a very nice traditional area to showcase and HONOR DISNEY ARTIST TALENT which is such a deep root of the today's Disney Empire. I can also feel like Walt, admiring the special view of happy park visitors from the Gallery.

Comments: Please re-consider closing The disney Gallery! With Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, Tom Sawyer Island, The original Horseshoe Reveiew, Contry Bear Jamboree, and Carsouel of Progress, please don't take away another one of my favorite places!

A most beautiful place that makes me feel truely special and close to Disney! It is important for us common folk to have a place to connect with Walt Disney, Mickey and all that is good! Please re-consider!?!?

Comments: I love the Disney Gallery, its a great place to see and show off all the wonderful artwork that makes up Disneyland, what goes into the creation of attractions and new lands! The Disney Gallery is also whats left of Walt's apartment that he was having built for himself, for the family, for celebrities to stay in! It's part of Disney History that shouldn't be lost...it was lost for 20 years before it was opened to the public back in the 80's...it needs to stay that way! It will be greatly missed if its taken out, or Club 33 expanded into it!

Let's all try to do what we can to help save and keep the Disney Gallery where it is now! :)

The Disney Gallery is one of the few places left in the park where you can get away from the crowds and relax, while taking in the fine art work of Imagineers past and present. Doing away with the gallery is like doing away with part of the park.
It's just a shame!

It's a beautiful place set above the hustle and bustle of most of the park. It is truly a jem. I used to work in the Disney Gallery and it was always one of my favorite places to spend my time. The cast members there are passionate about spreading the word about Walt Disney and all of the other amazing people that made Disneyland be a success. If it is for the "Year of a Million Dreams" then it is a complete mistake to close it just for a thing like that!

If it is for the Club 33 expansion, I don't think the Club needs to expand! The whole idea of an exclusive club to attend is that sometime you'll have to wait until it is your turn. Don't just do it to gain more seats for money!

The Disney Gallery is a direct connection to the man himself, Walt Disney. Has the company as a whole lost touch with it's histpry that much!?!

Comments: The gallery is part of the tradition of Disneyland. I've gone there since it opened in the later 80's and every single visit I make with my family or by myself, we make it a point to venture up those stairs and see what magical renderings are in store for us. It's become a tradition now and when Fantasmic was going, we'd have our reserved seats there on the terrace just outside the gallery. Please don't close the gallery, it would be like taking away one of Walt's dreams that has become many of our traditions. Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Amber A. Taylor

The Disney Gallery allows the childern as well as others the chance to view art at its finest, in a setting of the park. It would be a big mistake if it was removed from the park. Comments: Do NOT take out this classic piece of Disney history!!! The cast members who work there are dedicaded to providing guests with an experience beyond that of the traditional "pay-for-excitement" which you can find at any old heartless amusement park. They happily share their knowlege of Disney history and interesting factoids with anybody willing to get more out of the Disneyland experience.
As I said before, the gallery is a part of Disneyland history. It was sadly never used for it's origonal purpose but I can think of no better use for it than a gallery to showcase different aspects of this unique park. I am against the raw comercialization of Disneyland, which would DESTROY every part of what makes it so special. Walt would want the gallery to remain open to the public so everybody can continue to experience the park on a deeper level. Ever since he introduced us to "The Wonderful World of Disney", Walt showed that he didn't want people to just go to the park, but experience it. Keep Walt's dream alive!

And I don't know about other people, but I have done a good amount of shoping in the gallery, so I'm sure it brings in good money.

and lastly, The view from the balcony is nice and the courtyard up there is a Great place to escape. You almost feel like your no longer in a theme park.
