Things I Love Thursday: Disney Style
Hello everyone! Welcome to another edition of Things I Love Thursday: Disney Edition! This week I am writing about some of my favorite Disney Animated Shorts. In the past, I have written about some of my favorite spooky shorts, silly symphonies, and a few others. This week I am going to write about a few more that I have yet to mention. So I’ll keep this “short” and get started!
Knick Knack- This is my favorite Pixar short! Every time I saw Finding Nemo in the theater (all 5 times!) I looked forward to this short and really enjoyed it. Knick Knack is about a snowman in a snow globe who finds himself attracted to a mermaid knick knack and does everything he can think of trying to get out of his snow globe. I won’t ruin the end but it is HILARIOUS!
Runaway Brain- Runaway Brain is probably my favorite Mickey Mouse cartoon. It combines horror and Disney in one enjoyable 7 minute package. There are several horror references from movies like King Kong, Frankenstein and The Exorcist. In Runaway Brain, Mickey needs money for a forgotten anniversary with Minnie and volunteers for some “brainless work”. Despite the fact that it is not “classic” Mickey, I really enjoy this short and I am glad that I recently rediscovered it.
Truant Officer Donald- Truant Officer Donald is one of my favorite Donald Duck cartoons. While I am slightly biased towards Donald Duck cartoons because of my love for Donald due to my husband’s name, I really do enjoy most of the Donald Duck cartoons. This short features Donald chasing after Huey, Duey, and Louie, who are playing hooky from school. My favorite part of the short is when the boys make Donald think that he roasted them in their club house.
Mickey and the Seal- When I was young this was one of my favorite Disney shorts. I am not sure what I found so appealing about it but I have always liked it. In the short, Mickey goes to the zoo and feeds the seals. He takes pity on a smaller seal after the bigger ones steal all of the fish. After receiving the special fish from Mickey, the seal decides that Mickey’s place wouldn’t be a terrible place to live and follows Mickey home. It’s a very cute cartoon and I recommend that everyone should see it at least once!
I hope everyone enjoyed this week’s TILT. Since I had so much fun last week with Pixar characters, next week I will be talking about more of my favorite Pixar characters! Stay tuned! As always, feedback, comments, and suggestions are always welcome!
Have a Magical Day!
