Things I Love Thursday: Disney Style

Hey everyone! Welcome to Things I Love Thursday: Disney Style! This week’s TILT covers one of my favorite lands, Fantasyland! While most people consider Fantasyland a predominantly kids only area, I really enjoy it. The classic dark rides are a reminder of the early visions of Walt Disney and I love their traditional feel. I won’t keep you waiting any longer, here are some of the things I love about Fantasyland.

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride- Mr. Toad has always been one of my favorite rides in the park. In fact, Mr. Toad was the last ride I rode in 2010 (rode it on New Year’s Eve even!). My love of the ride started when I was a little girl. On my first visit to Disneyland, my dad thought it would be funny to tell me that I was actually driving. Needless to say, I was somewhat panicked and will definitely not forget that ride.

Being Young in Fantasyland- Speaking of the adventures of my youth, being young at Disneyland is great but Fantasyland is the place to be. Everything about it seems wondrous and exciting. As an adult, there is nothing more magical than seeing the look on a child’s face when they ride Peter Pan or the Tea Cups for the first time! And yes, the picture below is me when I was young!

The Mad Hatter Décor- One of my favorite shops in Fantasyland is the Mad Hatter. The White Rabbit used to inter design knowledge to create a quirky shop that has its fair share of carrot and rabbit themed décor. The light fixtures are among my favorites in the park. When you are trying on your hats, don’t forget to take a peek in the mirror behind the register. There is a amusing surprise!

Sleeping Beauty’s Castle Wheel Chair Accessible Viewing Area- This is one of Fantasyland’s lesser known secrets. Obviously the standard Sleeping Beauty’s Castle walkthrough is not wheelchair accessible. Therefore, much like The Finding Nemo M.O.O. , Disneyland offers its visitors an opportunity to watch the walkthrough in a themed room. Personally, I love the viewing area. It is decorated with quotes and even a small jewelry box with Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather as featured in the movie!  It’s a great place to cool off or warm up and enjoy the walkthrough without hurting your already tired feet.

I hope everyone enjoyed this week’s Things I Love Thursday: Disney Style. In the comments below I’d love to hear everyone’s favorite things about Fantasyland. Next week I will be writing about the things I love about Frontierland! See you all next week!

Have a Magical Day!
