Muppet Monday: It’s Time to Get Things Started…
Welcome to DAPs Magic’s newest segment, Muppet Monday! It has always been said that DAPs is kind of like the Muppets, so it is only appropriate that we feature a weekly blog about them! The difference is, unlike other weekly blogs on Geek’s Corner, instead of having just one contributor, many of us here at DAPs will be contributing. You can look forward to seeing blogs from Mr. DAPs, Murray the Bellhop, JourneyIntoMyImagination, and me, as well as any other DAPs contributor who decides they’d like to talk about the Muppets.
I figured for my first Muppet Monday I would talk about the Muppets and me. Like many children of the 80’s, I learned about the Muppets through Muppet Babies. Now while Muppet Babies does not follow the adult Muppet canon per say it did introduce me to the characters I now love, especially Miss Piggy. I don’t remember really seeing much of the original show as a child except in reruns, going back and watching them now as an adult has been great fun and as much I regret not seeing them when they were newer, the understanding of the jokes now makes them much more enjoyable.
In regards to the movies, I saw The Muppet Movie, The Muppets Take Manhattan and The Great Muppet Caper when I was about 7 or 8. To this day my favorite Muppet movie is A Muppet Christmas Carol. I was so happy to finally get it on dvd when it came out! I still have not seen Muppets in Space and Muppet Treasure Island and have no immediate plans to. I am beyond excited for the new Muppet movie and can’t wait to see what they come up with!
I am so excited that DAPs will finally have a regular Muppet blog and can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with! My next post will be next month and will feature some of my favorite Muppet music videos! So stay tuned!
