Muppet Monday: D23 and The Muppets
It was two years ago that about this time I had just learned about a movie that excited the 5-year-old child in me: The Muppets. Back then it was being called The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever, and little was known about it. Now it’s almost time for it to premier and two days ago I was in the same place where I first heard about the movie. This time there was so much more to see.
During the Walt Disney Studios presentation at the D23 Expo, the audience were treated to Jason Segel and Kermit appearing onstage to share a bit about The Muppets movie. They were interrupted by Miss Piggy being escorted on a motorcycle, and after they had just been saying the clips they brought did not have her in them. Well, we know how Miss Piggy is! She was not happy about the clips they picked. But, the show must go on, and the clips were rolled.
I don’t want to share spoilers, but rather entice you to go see the movie. I will say that one featured the trio of Jason, Amy Adams, and newest Muppet, Walter looking for Kermit’s home. The other thing I will say about this scene is that it also introduced 80′s Robot, and I think his name speaks for himself. The next clip was most of the Muppets returning to the old theater to get it ready for a come back show. I’ll just say it was touching, nostalgic, and hilarious.
I’ve been a bit afraid that I’m anticipating this movie way too much, and that I will be disappointed. At the beginning of both clips, I think because they were out of context, there was skepticism. But, by the end of the showing I am realizing that I won’t be disappointed with this movie! THE MUPPETS ARE BACK!!
