Song Saturday: Disney Style (You Might Think)
Hey guys! You ready for Cars Land?! Me too! From those first few pictures, I knew that Cars Land was going to be a hit, and it was. Radiator Springs looks exactly like it does in the movie and Ornament Valley looks beautiful and gorgeous, thanks to some movie techniques like forced perspective that really enhance the look of the place.
In honor of Cars Land (as well as Buena Vista Street), let’s take a gander at the featured song of Cars 2, You Might Think.
One of my favorite thing about the Cars franchise is that they have the best songs in the movies. In most films, a couple of songs are played over scenes and are then available on the soundtrack. The great thing about Cars is that each song is carefully picked to match the situation of the film and heighten the experience. Life is a Highway does this fantastically and one cannot watch the Our Town sequence without choking up a bit.
Like Life is a Highway, You Might Think is a fun song about hanging out with friends and living your dream. The music video is played along with clips of Lightning McQueen and Mater’s antics around the world. Interspliced with clips of the band Weezer, it makes for a very modern movie music video, but still has that Pixar-esque quality. Cars 2 is one of Pixar’s best films, in terms of sheer entertainment, and nothing but entertainment, and this song captures that feeling. This is the song you’d want to rock out to while adventuring with Lightning and Mater and getting into crazy hijinks.
The song was originally performed by a New Wave band called The Cars, which is probably why it was chosen for the film, but is covered by Weezer in the movie. They’ve got a nice rhythm and rock style and their upbeat melody makes the song very catchy.
If you want to simply have a fun and exciting movie experience, pop in Cars 2 and check out this great song!
Be Fantasmic!
