Q is Back!
I’m quite excited to report that James Bond will be getting cool gadgets again in the next James Bond movie, Skyfall. According to Entertainment Weekly, Q will be returning in this movie after being absent in the last two James Bond movies. In Skyfall, Q will be played by Ben Whishaw.
Ben Whishaw is the fourth actor to portray the quartermaster in the James Bond movies. The role was originated by Peter Burton. Unless you are an avid James Bond fan, you may not remember him. You will remember the actor who played Q in the next 16 movies though, Desmond Llewelyn. He was then joined by John Cleese who was his assistant R. When Llewelyn died, Cleese became the third man to play Q. Now Whishaw steps into the role known for providing Mr. Bond with his fancy gagdets. He is the first man to play the character who is younger than Bond. This seems fitting in the digital era full of young geeks.
