Watcher Wednesday: Spider-Men Update

Happy Wednesday, everyone! It’s time for a Spider-Men update. As most of you know, I’m a devoted fan of Spider-Man and when I heard that there was going to be a crossover between the normal Earth-616 Peter Parker and the Ultimate universe’s Miles Morales, I jumped in the air. This was the first time that the two universes coincide and people were excited because the comic book writers specifically said that they would never cross over the two worlds.

The 50th anniversary of Spider-Man sure changed that decision. Mind you, comic book decisions never really stay…decided (“No one in comics stays dead except Uncle Ben”). Since I’ve talked about the history of this decision last time, I thought I should give you all an update on this limited series.

So far, we’ve discovered that the conniving Mysterio was responsible for sending Peter Parker to the Ultimate universe, where the first person he bumps into is our very own Miles Morales. As is common in comic book team-up stories, a misunderstanding ensues and they both battle it out before settling on a truce. Nick Fury (the Ultimate Samuel L. Jackson version) informs Peter of his situation and like every person accidentally transported to an alternate dimension where things are slightly different, his reaction isn’t too spectacular.

So Peter and Miles get to know each other while they’re sent on a mission when their helicopter explodes and they find themselves at the mercy of Mysterio. They work together and manage to defeat him, but in the ensuing chaos, Peter darts away to find himself at the house of Aunt May and Gwen Stacy, both still grieving the death of the Ultimate Peter Parker…

If you want to find out what comes after this…get the latest issue, Spider-Men #4!
