Walt Disney Animation Plans New Film "Moana" for 2016 Release

Walt Disney Animation lovers, here is some exciting news on a brand project. Just announced, a new CG animated “comedy-adventure” will hit theaters in late 2016. The film titled “Moana” is based on a teenager who is set on an adventure to fulfill her ancestors’ quest. This film is being directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who have also worked together on The Princess and the Frog and Aladdin.

Here are some words John Musker had on the film, “Moana is indomitable, passionate and a dreamer with a unique connection to the ocean itself. She’s the kind of character we all root for, and we can’t wait to introduce her to audiences.”

In a brief synopsis from Disney Insider, here is what audiences can look forward to:

It’s a big adventure set in this beautiful world of Oceania. In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.
