Disneyland Resort Relocates Historic Pope House

As the Disneyland Resort makes ways for a brand new Star Wars themed land, many of us had to say goodbye to a several attractions. This past week, an iconic landmark in the backstage area was relocated offsite.

This landmark is none other than the Pope House. According to the Orange County Register, this was the home of Owen and Dolly Pope, who were care takers of Disneyland’s horses and other various animals in the early years. Walt Disney himself hired them to work on property as well as later move into that said house.

This past Wednesday, the 1,300-square-foot house was moved from its Circle D Corral location backstage to an offsite parking lot in Anaheim. City records state the move cost around $20,000.

Disney Parks Blog shared an interesting article on the Pope House a few years ago. If you would like to check it out, please click here for more behind the scenes.

Glad to see the resort is keeping history alive. What are your thoughts on the Pope House relocation?
