#DAPsMagicTFA: A Tweet-Along of the Star Wars VII Blu-“Rey”

A couple nights ago, @mr_daps and the crew had the extreme geeky privilege of being some of the first people to watch Star Wars Ep. VII on Blu-ray from the comfort of the DAPs Studios. Naturally, we took to Twitter with the hashtag #DAPsMagicTFA to share our reactions to the film via live-tweet. And, as always happens when you put a group of geeks in the same room, things got …entertaining, to say the very least.

Here are a few of our highlights from the evening, as shared by @mr_camjaxn, @DAPsMurray, @Caitiebear13, @lauramarie08, @ladivajenny, and of course, the masterful @mrdaps himself!

So, of course, we all had a strong reaction as soon as we pulled that vacuum-sealed plastic off of the packaging.

[heading style=”subheader”]References Galore[/heading]

Now that we were no longer constrained to theater etiquette, which normally doesn’t allow for excitable geek comparisons, we got to work making ALL the cross-references.

And oh, don’t get us going on all the Hamilton references. The fact that @Lin_Manuel wrote a song for the Cantina scene didn’t hurt, either.

[heading style=”subheader”]Just A Little Attached…[/heading]

Now that we’ve had a little time to sit on our feelings for the characters in the film, watching them again brought some stuff out.

[heading style=”subheader”]We Sense A Disturbance[/heading]

As with any film, if you watch it enough times, you catch some weird stuff. Now that we were free to share our thoughts aloud, some interesting observations surfaced.

[heading style=”subheader”]That’s Not How The Force Works![/heading]

Give it enough time, and the DAPs Crew gets wonky. Here were some of our more random thoughts.

We had a great time, and can’t wait to have everyone enjoy the movie in their own homes (with the awesome special features as well!). If you’d like to do your own live-tweet, add to the fun by using #DAPsMagicTFA, and be sure to let us know in the comments below!

Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens hits stores April 5th, 2016. ‘Til then, good luck, and may the Force be with you.
