Precautions Walt Disney World Is Taking For Hurricane Matthew

harambenightslightningAccording to Orlando Sentinel, tonight’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party has been cancelled in anticipation of Hurricane Matthew.  Besides the party cancellation, Fort Wilderness is being evacuated as it is a campground vulnerable to the weather.  Alternative lodging is being made available for the Polynesian Bungalows guests and Saratoga Springs Treetop Villas guests.

It is good to know Walt Disney World has plans in place for the more vulnerable operations of the resort in case of hurricanes.  Hurricane weather is a somewhat common occurrence for Florida, but with the size and strength of this coming storm extra precautions are being taken.

UPDATE

Walt Disney World is now closing their parks today at 5 pm and will not open until October 7.  Orlando International Airport will also cease operations at 8 pm today.
