New Way to Register for runDisney Races Incorporates My Disney Experience Plus Important Dates for Registering

runDisney has implemented a new way of registering for its races that also incorporates the My Disney Experience site and app from Walt Disney World.

Old Ways

Previously for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World half marathons/marathons, runDisney used Active.com as its registration process.  Those wishing to run would head to the runDisney site, click on the appropriate race, and then go to a specific Active.com page with forms to fill out.  Though runDisney was incorporated with the rest of the Disney sites, Active.com is a third-party site and required separate account registration before registering for each race.

New Way

Registering for a race is now connected to Disney accounts and requires that account registration for buying into a race.  If you have an account associated with either Disneyland or Walt Disney World (especially My Disney Experience accounts) then there’s no need to make a new account.  You simply login with those credentials.  And if you have information connected to the account, like address and phone number, that is automatically put in place to make it easier to register for a race.

What this also means is that the races are integrated even more to Resort stays.  Some current race registrants have been notified that My Disney Experience is now connected to the races.  That means that those plans will show up in the app, where it previously didn’t because registration was with a third party.

The rest of the registration seems roughly the same, and a little cleaner of an interface.  Plus, now you don’t have to juggle between sites to register for races.

Some Tips

If you have registered several times for a Disney race on Active.com and have that account ready to go, now you should make a Disney account and have that ready before any registration date.

Be sure to have information available on the account too, like your address.

Mark down these important dates of registration:

  • July 19, 2018 – General registration for Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend 2019
  • August 7, 2018 – General registration for Princess Half Marathon Weekend 2019
  • August 28, 2018 – General registration for Star Wars Rival Run 2019 & Star Wars Virtual Run and Kessel Challenge 2019

Each will be at 12 pm EST and 9 am PST.

Happy racing and let us know what you think of the new way of registering in the comments below!
