On Thanksgiving, Disney released the first teaser trailer for The Lion King. This is a remake of the original Disney animated film that has a live-action look through the incredible power of CGI. While some of these movies haven’t received the warmest welcome, the evidence is quite to the contrary for The Lion King.
In the first 24 hours, the teaser trailer for The Lion King had over 224.6 million views globally. This made it the most-watched Disney trailer in one day. It comes only second in teaser trailer views in 24 hours to Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War which garnered 238 million views.
The teaser trailer for The Lion King was released during the Thanksgiving evening football festivities. For fans of the original film, it felt very familiar as the voice of James Earl Jones could be heard before Rafiki presented Simba to the kingdom.
The Lion King will be arriving in theaters on June 19, 2019. It has a stellar cast that includes Donald Glover, Beyonce, James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, Seth Rogen, Alfre Woodard, and John Oliver. It is being directed by Jon Favreau.
