On Saturday, March 2nd a group of the media was allowed inside a rehearsal for the CHOC Follies. Over the course of 2 decades, over 1,500 cast members have entertained and raised money for CHOC Children’s Foundation in the CHOC Follies. During this time, over $10 million has been raised through this special event! This year’s production, “Ellas, Bellas, and Fairytale Fellas” will be entertaining and raising funds for CHOC on March 28, 29, and 30th at the Robert B. Moore Theatre at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.

Patty Randall, Director of Community Engagement shared about the CHOC Follies. Each cast member of the CHOC Follies not only is a part of the show but also raises $2,500 for CHOC to participate. With rehearsals on Wednesdays and Saturdays, this dedicated group of people prepares to entertain on their own time. Many of them have done it for a very long time.

During this rehearsal, our group was invited to learn one of the song and dance numbers that will be showcased in the CHOC Follies. Bill Wiley, who has participated in the CHOC Follies for 8 years, was on hand to teach our group the song and choreography. While no awards will be won for our performance, the group still had a lot of fun.

Dr. Modir was also on hand to represent CHOC Children’s Foundation’s mental health program, which CHOC Follies is supporting this year. She shared how the Foundation supports children with mental health needs and their families. These children are supported and can even stay in a special place at CHOC Children’s together while being helped. Kids are supported up until they are 22 years old at no cost. The differences being made through this program is life-changing.
